Class Newsletters

Dear Parents,
Update on homework expectations this term
It is expected your child will read their reader each night, however I understand there are after school activities that some children participate in. Your child keeps their readers in their book bag for the week to allow for any ‘catch up’ reading on evenings that are a little less busy.
Ten Mathletics activities are set on a Monday for the week. Some time is given during school time to complete these activities as well as an expectation of completing the rest of these at home.
STEPS homework has now been set and passwords issued. All students have had a go at logging themselves in and how to get in to the homework section. This is also updated weekly. More information will follow about STEPS this week.
If you have any questions regarding homework please feel free to contact me or we can discuss at the CCC interviews in Week 4.

 Dear Parents and Whanau
Welcome back! We have a busy and exciting Term 3 planned.
Our inquiry theme for this term is ‘Space’.  If you have any resources on this topic we would love to
borrow them.
Counties Manukau Sport are continuing to provide Fundamental Movement Skills lessons to the P
iwakawaka and Tui teams (Year 0-4) this term. The lessons will now be on a Monday starting in week 2.
The first Reading Together programme was hugely successful last term. The next Reading Together series of workshops begins in Week 3 on Tuesday 9th August at 3pm in Parekereke. This is a great opportunity for parents to come to a series of workshops and gain tips for helping children with their reading. If you are keen to participate for term 3, please let me know ASAP as places are filling up fast.
Please see the updated News timetable for this term attached to this newsletter and on the class blog.
Tirohanga will be busy preparing for Calf Club Day during the term. We will be making 3 pieces of art for this. We are also preparing calendar art which will be available for purchase later in the year.  If you have any queries about Calf Club Day please contact Mrs Andrews in the office who will be happy to answer your questions.
We are lucky enough to be participating in the STEPS literacy programme for the remainder of the year. It is an online programme accompanied by workbooks. This will be replacing our current spelling homework and will begin from week 3. More information about the programme will be sent out next week.
This term we will be preparing for Cross Country. We will begin training for this everyday, weather
permitting.  Children might like to bring appropriate running footwear.
Please feel free to come in and see your child’s work in the classroom if you have a chance before or after school. If you have anything to share or any concerns please come and see me.
Our Tirohanga blog is another place you can check out what we are up to and comment:
